Department of Education Kalinga Division is on with its Search for the Most Child-Friendly School for School Year 2015-2016.
This commenced last October 16.
The objective is to develop a system of “quality” consisting the following: “quality learners” that are healthy and eager to learn, supported by their family and community; “quality content” consisting of relevant curricula and adequate learning materials; quality teaching-learning processes” that are child-centered and promote life skills; “quality learning environment” consisting of adequate facilities, services and appropriate policies; and, “well-defined quality learning outcomes”.
The concept of establishing a Child-Friendly School System (CFSS) in the Philippines was introduced in 1999 via a series of consultations among school administrators, teachers and children’s advocates. It is supported by Child Protection Policy (DO 40 s. 2012 and Anti-Bullying Act (RA 10627).
In order to have this implemented, each district will nominate an entry (one for the elementary and one for secondary). The deadline for nominations is moved to November 30, 2015 due to the recent reshuffling of PSDSs and school heads. Monitoring & Evaluation to said nominees will be done. The school who will win in the division contest will receive a Certificate of Recognition. The School Head, faculty and staff of the winning institution will also be given certificates for being the Most Child-Friendly School Head, Most Child-Friendly Teacher and Most Child-Friendly School Staff.
Awarding of winners will be during the Brigada Kick Off 2016. (SGOD/tbt)
